Pick-Ups refer to any Item that can be picked up without taking up a slot.


Bombs[]

Bombs are a consumable Item that can be infinitely stacked.

Bombs are placed on the tile the player is standing on and after 4 beats explodes in a 3x3 area centered on the bomb. The explosion has the following effects:

  • Destroys Walls, Traps, Items (except the Golden Lute) and gold piles.
  • Removes Water and Conduits and turns Ice into Water.
  • Deals 4 damage to enemies and 2 hearts of damage to the player.
  • Opens crates and barrels, damages Teh Urn, and destroys all types of Gargoyle.
  • Can damage all Mimics and Fake Walls even before they are active.


Bombs can be accessed by pressing Down + Left, or the left trigger button on console. (As Diamond, press Up + Down instead.)

  • Blast Helm - Bombs are instantly detonated and do not damage the player.
  • Grenade Charm - Bombs are instantly thrown 3 tiles away from the player and explode in 2 beats. The player's Bombs also deal +2 damage to enemies and +1 heart of damage to the player.
  • Bomb Charm - Bombs explode in a 5x5 area and do not harm player characters.
Item Effects

Bomb
Gives the player 1 Bomb.

3 Bombs
Gives the player 3 Bombs.

Grenade 
Held Bombs take this appearance while the player is holding a Grenade Charm

Heart Containers[]

See: Health

Heart Containers are added to the player's Health when collected. The player can have a maximum of 10 Hearts at once.

Cursed Heart Container 
  • Adds 1 Cursed Heart to the player's Health.
  • No effect if having 10 Heart Containers in total.

Double Cursed Heart Container 
  • Adds 2 Cursed Hearts to the player's Health.
  • No effect if having 10 Heart Containers in total.

Keys[]

Keys are unique to single-zone gamemodes. They are used to unlock various things.

Item Effects

Key
  • Used to open Locked Chests and Locked Doors.

Golden Key
  • Used to open a Golden Cage, freeing an NPC and unlocking their room in the Lobby.

Glass Key
  • Used to open a Glass Cage, freeing an NPC and unlocking their room in the Lobby.
  • Breaks if the player takes damage.


Charms[]

Charms are worn by the player and provide various effects.

Item Effects
  • Increases attack damage by 1.
  • When the player is at 0.5 Health remaining, Risk Charm increases attack damage by 2.
  • Removes all Spirits from the floor.
  • Upon consuming a Food Item that would restore more Health than the player has Empty Hearts for, Gluttony Charm adds 1 Filled Heart Container for each Heart of healing past capacity. Gluttony Charm is consumed in the process.
  • Does not consumed when eating magic food.
  • Prevents all damage from one hit, then breaks.
  • Upon breaking, it casts Freeze, freezing all enemies within 5 tiles for 8 beats.
  • Increases the floor's item tier by 1, increasing the chance of finding higher-tiered items in containers and shops.
  • Prevents Bats from attacking the player (unless they have no other movement option), this applies to both players in local co-op.
  • Guarantees success when using the Shrine of Chance, this only applies to the equipping player in local co-op.
  • When entering new floors, barrels and crates with Food or Bombs contain a better version of it.
  • Bombs explode in an area of 5x5 tiles.
  • The player's Bombs do not harm player characters.
  • All held Bombs become Grenades.
    • Grenades are instantly thrown 3 tiles away from the player and explode in 2 beats.
  • The player's Bombs deal +2 damage to enemies and +1 heart of damage to the player.
  • Gives 3 Bombs when picked up for the first time.
  • Only available in the Level Editor.


Miscellaneous[]

All other pickups that don't fit into the above categories are listed below.

Item Effects
  • Reveals the floor's layout, including the locations of Chests on the floor.
  • Reveals the location of the Exit Stairs.
  • When the Exit Stairs are out of view, a blue arrow appears on the HUD that points towards it.
  • The next Item the player buys from any Shop is sold for free. The Coupon is consumed in the process.
  • Upon losing all Health, the Potion instantly refills the player's Health. The Potion is consumed in the process.
    • Does not revive the player if they die from Cowardice, Vow of Poverty, Mary's Curse or Tempo's Curse.
