Shops are encountered at the lobby and at random locations within the dungeon. The player can buy items using Gold (dungeon shops) or Diamonds (Lobby shops). The shops within the crypt offer equipment that is lost upon death; the shops in the lobby offer permanent upgrades and unlockable items.
Gold is lost upon death, typically obtained by slaying monsters within the crypt. It may also be obtained by destroying golden shop walls, using a bomb or certain tools while gigantic, for 10 gold per wall tile. The multiplayer, at Max level, gives slightly more gold.
Diamonds are not lost upon death; they can be found in separated Zone runs on the ground, hidden in walls, and by defeating a boss for the first time. However, starting a new playthrough always brings their amount down to zero, so a prompt is displayed to the player when they attempt to leave and still have enough diamonds to purchase anything in the lobby shops.

Crown of Greed
|The location is random, but the shop will always be reachable through its door. The shop is surrounded by golden shop walls. There is only one shop per level. If the Coin Shop shopkeeper dies for any reason, they will stop appearing for the rest of the run, and the current items will be free. If the Coin Shop shopkeeper happens to leave the shop for any reason, the shop items will be free, and the shopkeeper will still return on the following levels. Like any other monsters the shopkeeper can activate traps, and if you attack the shopkeeper and manage to lure him to a trapdoor, the shopkeeper falls into the trapdoor, you can take the shop items for free, and on the following levels the shopkeeper appears like nothing happened.|
|All types of equipment available.||none||Very rarely, the normal shopkeeper will be replaced by a red-eyed version who is immediately hostile and drops nothing on death. Killing him will make all the items in the shop free without removing the "real" Shopkeeper from later levels. It is currently unknown if there's a specific trigger for this.
The Monstrous Shopkeeper can be distinguished by his red eyes and distorted singing. The most obvious sign that he is present is that the shop walls are silver, though they behave identically to the regular gold walls.

Crown of Greed
| There is a chance that upon entering a new level, this shop will spawn in place of the normal shop. Instead of a door, there will be a cracked gold wall which requires breaking to gain access to. Within the shop contains high tier or rare items.
Note that the shopkeeper here is the same as the standard shopkeeper. If you kill him, regular shops will be empty, and vice versa.

Purchasing items can kill you if you don't have enough hearts to cover the cost. Damage preventers such as Shield Spells and Glass Armor won't protect you, but the Potion can save your life if you overspend.
The blood shop is guaranteed to spawn on 1-1 or 1-2 .

Scroll of Transmute

Green, Red, and Blue Dragons will spawn when attempting to blow up the shrines or the Shriner itself. These dragons do not count as a mini-boss kill and do not drop gold.

When damaged, he transmutes the entire shop area into tar and will the chase the player.

The wall is not cracked. The only way to see if a secret shop is present is by holding a torch near the top wall, or by looking at the size of the room. If a secret shop spawned, then the top wall of the host shop will be one tile lower than normal
Uses the same currency as the shop with which it spawned.
Technically counted as part of the normal coin shop, so the item will become free if the normal shopkeeper dies or leaves their shop.
These shops use for currency, and can be found on separated Zone runs.

Note: Fix weapon characters such as Aria, Dove, or Eli are able to pick up weapons, but this causes them to immediatly die of cowardice upon starting a run.
